For instance, Marketron International is a leading provider of broadcast management solutions for the Radio, TV and Cable industries, wanted to backup more than 20 SQL servers at the primary site in San Francisco, California and was required to replicate them at a remote site in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were looking for a solution that would automate the SQL Log Shipping process. SQL Log Shipping is a laborious process and it took tremendous resources and time. Success of log shipping depends on the skill sets of Database Administrator (DBA) and the probability of failure in log shipping is high.
Using Sonsoft's solution, one can create a standby server through an automated template driven process. Marketron International was looking at various solutions and finally chose SonaSafe because of its functionality and cost. Using Sonasoft's solution, the customer is automatically updating the remote standby servers every 15 minutes. "The automated standby capability solved all our headaches and will for every DBA. Another customer, Heat and Control, recognized world leader in the supply and manufacture of food processing and packaging equipment was performing manual backup operation using tapes four times a day. It was a laborious and error-prone process, which was taking an enormous amount of time. Due to the long manual labor of the entire process, Heat and Control could not backup more frequently. Heat and Control wanted to automate the entire backup process so that they don't have to spend an enormous amount of time and labor managing the entire process.
By implementing Sonasoft's solution, Heat and Control totally eliminated all the manual effort involved in backup and recovery processes. Heat and Control is using SAP R/3 system in conjunction with SQL Servers. The total size of the database is almost 200 GB and using the SonaSafe application, a disk-to-disk backup happens according to a predefined schedule. Sonasafe has literally cut our backup time in half and we no longer have to manually change tapes as we used to do in the past.
